As a company, we have set our sights on the world and on global challenges to leave a positive footprint around us. Through our global activity, we strive to contribute to building a world that is more equal, just, ethical, inclusive, developed, and transparent.

Code of Ethics

The way we conduct business is critical to our sustainability. Our Code of Ethics (PDF, 159 KB) serves as a roadmap for ensuring that we comply with laws, regulations and company policies, and influences how we treat each other and our stakeholders.

Mapfre Group Sustainability Plan

The Plan allows Mapfre to make progress in our social commitment and strengthen the relationships with our stakeholders, with which our company has a special relationship. This is achieved through specific economic and good governance actions in the social and environmental areas. The overall objective is to improve our company’s performance and consolidate Mapfre’s image as a trusted global insurance company.

Corporate Sustainability Policy

The Corporate Sustainability policy of the Mapfre group defines the action principles in this field, as well as operating practices and relationships with its main stakeholders. The CSR policy is applicable to every Mapfre company in every country where it operates.

Mapfre USA Sustainability Plan

The 2024-2026 Sustainability Plan focuses on those global challenges to which we can contribute through our activity, acting in the four dimensions of sustainability equally: environmental, social, governance, and business.

Environment: We protect our planet

We care about the great natural treasure that connects us, and we know that together we can make possible the change necessary to protect it. That is why, from our part, we want to improve the management of our environmental footprint and promote the circular economy.

Social: By joining forces, we close gaps

We work to ensure that quality employment, inclusion, financial education, accessibility to insurance, and the sustainability of our value chain are drivers of transformation. We are at a moment of historic progress, in which we have taken great steps to move towards a diverse and inclusive society.

Government: We promote transparency and dialogue

We promote dialogue, from within and without, with all those who, like us, want to be part of this change. At a time of urgency such as the one we are in; climate and social challenges challenge us to collaborate in a transversal way to jointly find valuable solutions.

Business: We develop products and services with ESG criteria

We acquire demanding and resounding public commitments in social and environmental matters, with services and products aligned with them, through sustainable products, sustainable investment, and sustainable underwriting. For the world to achieve the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda, each company must address common challenges and make them their own, integrating them into products and processes. Also sensitizes its customers so that they commit and act.

3 Carbon offset projects

Carbon Offset Projects

Following a 61% reduction in emissions compared to our 2022 baseline, and a 15% reduction from 2024 Mapfre USA recorded 3,933.94 tCO₂e of unavoidable emissions for 2025. To address these remaining emissions responsibly, we invested in accredited carbon offset projects, prioritizing nature‑based solutions in the United States, particularly within the New England region, where many of our customers and employees live and work.

Through these three projects, Mapfre USA successfully neutralized all unavoidable emissions for 2025. Our investments reflect our commitment to supporting the communities our customers call home by protecting the natural landscapes of New England, while also contributing to sustainable development in regions abroad. As a global organization, we remain dedicated to fostering resilient communities, safeguarding natural resources, and supporting climate solutions that benefit both people and the planet for generations to come.

MA TRI-City Forestry Project

This project represents a significant regional collaboration among the towns of Holyoke, West Springfield, and Westfield Massachusetts, which have jointly protected 13,536 acres of forestland across their jurisdictions. Supported by the American Carbon Registry, the Forest Stewardship Council, and state water authorities, the project safeguards critical watershed areas and bolsters long‑term ecological resilience. These protected forests are expected to sequester approximately 122,000 metric tons of CO₂e annually, and the participating municipalities have committed to meaningfully increasing carbon storage in their forestlands over the next 40 years.

This project aligns with these Sustainability Development Goals:

This project is located in portions of New Hampshire and Maine and is expected to generate more than 700,000 metric tons of  of CO₂e reductions over its initial 20‑year crediting period. Through strategic forest management methods, such as extended harvest rotations, selective thinning, and strengthened conservation practices, the project preserves existing carbon stores while increasing the forests’ long‑term capacity to sequester carbon. In addition, the initiative supports biodiversity protection, improved water and air quality, soil health and erosion prevention, and continued public access to natural areas for recreation and community well‑being.

Concosta REDD+ Project

Mapfre is an international company comprised of global citizens, we also recognize the importance of supporting high‑impact projects beyond our immediate geography. To offset the remaining portion of our unavoidable emissions, we invested in the Concosta REDD+ Project in Colombia’s Chocó region, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. Implemented by the Concosta Community Council and Fondo Acción, the project works to reduce deforestation and forest degradation across 134,977 acrs through improved governance, strengthened community engagement, and the development of alternative sustainable economic opportunities. Over a 30‑year period, the project is expected to generate more than 8 million verified carbon units while supporting local and Indigenous communities through training, capacity‑building, and long‑term livelihood development.
